New London Postcode King’s Cross Central N1C
October 11th, 2011 § Leave a Comment
King’s Cross Central, the development housing the new insipirational ‘Granary’ Building for the University of the Arts London, has also created the postcode N1C.
Here’s the building glowing with the potential of turning this barren piece of London in to a hot bed of student creativity, now genuinely linking Camden and Islington under the auspesis of the Arts. All kicked off of course with the Guardian Building and the fabulous King’s Place Concert Hall’s, Galleries, restaurant and bar right on the towpath of the Regent’s Canal at Battlebridge Basin.
All good and lovely, but as luck would have it when you’re looking for inspiration you turn around and find out where the Darleks are building their new secret Headquarters…

This is how she describes her installation:
“The installation is a figurative soft sculpture. Two girls sharing their thoughts and dreams with one another (and with the audience too, if you squeeze their right hands) Alice’s dolls identities remain anonymous, they could be anyone, or everyone.
Hand built and textured porcelain cups are balanced upon a fragile home, which the oversize dolls have outgrown, alongside their relationships within it.
A sweet cup of tea doesn’t make everything better, although it does help.”

Last week was the private view and degree show at the University of the Arts LCC Elephant and Castle London.
A very high standard of work all round at the Round About and a great response to the show with record attendees at the Private view. Nothing to do with Free Wine and Beer I’m sure. And this time with great delight to see Alice’s work on show.
For me to comment would be wrong, so I’ll let you make your own mind up as she has been selected to represent the University at the ‘New Designers’ Show at the Business Design Centre in Islington this very week 29th June – 2nd July.
As The BDC says about the New Designers show, it showcases the very best in Graduate design, so you won’t be disappointed and neither will I.

Century21 Film Studios take off

Now i’ve been working with the Century21 team for a little while and we’re finalising the launch strategy, here’s a sneaky view of what Century21 Films is all about. You could call it the launch video.
Cracking in-camera effects shot on location. You can’t say fairer than that.
Apart from also saying it is visually stunning, beautiful model and miniature work and that some have even mistaken it for archive footage.
Get your eye’s on this… http://vimeo.com/15733867
Century21Films offers filmakers outstanding facilities and a hand picked team of the highest calibre. A 30,000 sq.ft. uninterrupted stage – one of the largest in Europe and a purpose built ‘plein air’ water stage with 360° natural skyline. Production offices, workshops and everything else you’d like, including being an hour and a half from central London.
As the tagline says: YOU AIN’T SEEN NOTHIN’ YET.

Tiny Tickers looking good

This is due in no small part to the excellent ‘visual’ contribution that Mr Kerry Roper has donated to the charity.
The decisive new logo, part of the overall re-branding programme, will be showcased when the Charity launches its new strategic developments very soon.
The new campaign will deliver a more forward focusing and public facing position. We will be looking for support in a number of ways and hope that 2011 will bring good news for all concerned.
Stand by for a press release.
The horizon grows nearer

As this month draws to a close, my thoughts are on the horizon that South Africa offers.
The creativity within the project encompassing BEE policy is tremendously exciting. Enabling young, gifted and black people to help train for a profitable future and shape their own destiny. Working with ITEC to provide International qualifications and laying the stepping stones of the future at their feet.
This will be supported by an International Academy where students from all over the world will be invited to train for a career that can catapult them to success with proven business and financial advice as an added bonus.
We’re at the stage of signing a Memorandum of Understanding which will get us off the starting blocks, and then I can share the full details.
